chapter 8

Chapter 8:
~~~~~~~~~~
The hospital report concluded that among the many, many contusions on various parts of her body, including a bunch on her face that caused her eyes to swell, Ashley had also been sexually violated.  Her father's semen had been wiped off but some of it was still there, lingering.  She was not pregnant (thank God), but she did suffer 3 broken ribs.  She did not have any broken bones besides that, but there was evidence that this had been going on for a VERY long time.  Dr Dilenger, who filled out the report, had seen this type of profile before.  But this was the worst case of it she had seen in a very long time.  It made her sick to think that a man she had grown up with, a man who had high importance in this town, could do something like that to his own daughter. Even if he tried to play it off, the evidence was all over her body.
In addition to the new bruises, there were a bunch that were fading.  Some on her shins, presumably from being kicked, and she had more tiny fractures in her ribs than the Dr originally thought.  She saw very clearly how the ribcage had been broken in at least 3 places.  But she would need to take some more x-rays to find all the smaller ones.  You could see a few upon closer inspection but she wanted it to be clear that this girl had been getting abused for way longer than anyone realized.  She respected Mr Blackfield but she had no problem doing her job correctly and making him pay for his discretion.  Although... daughter rapists very rarely ever have the easiest time in jail...
Jeff Blackfield looked around the tiny cell and grunted.  His room was barely the size of his bathroom at home.  Bars on the window indicated it was a sunny day out.  He hoped his daughter was having a grand old time spreading rumors about him.  He'd be out of here in an hour.  He used up his one phone call to call his lawyer, which didn't do any good because the man was out of town.  But where was he going?  He didn't say anything about a pending vacation.  In fact, Jeff knew for sure that his lawyer didn't have any kind of a life besides his clients, and that he took their calls 24/7.  Something didn't sit right in his stomach.
Luckily, he had this cell to himself for a while.  He had been here for 10 minutes and he was already sick of it.  He was in and out of that questioning room fast.  In fact, the detective who was "questioning" him barely asked any.  He just went on and on about damning evidence, no bail, and other nonsense.  Then told him to get out of his face and after that, the rest was history.  He got padded down and cavity searched, had to strip down in front of 2 female officers who were not at all attractive, made to put on a suit that was very unflattering, and given one toilet paper roll, one blanket, one pillow, one toothbrush and some toothpaste.  And this was supposed to last him a while?  He wasn't spending the night here.
He couldn't believe he was in here.  As far as he could tell, he had done nothing wrong.  He had a daughter who was growing up to be a little whore after her mom died.  She was sneaking out of the house and never wanted to spend any time with him.  Whenever he would come near her she would call him an asshole and slam the door in his face. He had to teach her a thing or two about respect.
Did he have a temper?  Of course he did.  He wasn't going to argue that point.  Did he ever smack his daughter around?  He would call it more discipline.  Just because she bruised easily didn't mean he was in the wrong.  That was her fault.  It was her fault for trying to get away, for fighting him off.  If she would just stay still and take it, he wouldn't have to use as much force.  And also, if she was perfect, he wouldn't have to hit her at all.
As the sun disappeared from the cell window and no one had come to the cell to get him out, he finally made his bed.  No one was coming today?  That was perfectly fine. He'd be out by tomorrow night.  Back in his beautiful house, in his favorite reclining chair in front of his brand new 55" big screen tv he just bought a month ago.  And whenever he saw his daughter again, he was going to beat the shit out of her for ever opening her mouth and telling anyone about what he supposedly did to her.  He'd make sure she's never be able to tell a soul anything, ever again.
